ADULT EDUCATION TALKS  & WORKSHOPS

Michael Hallam: New Year 2008

Dear Friends

The main purpose of these events is to make available the fruits of over 20 years of working with the practical insights of Rudolf Steiner, and other great thinkers and social reformers. Colloquially, I call the overall program a 'Steiner Education for Grown-ups'.

There is a small but growing group who are finding the contents of these workshops valuable as a means of ongoing self-development and for gaining deeper insights into the wider forces at work in society. And there is now a core group of 'students', who have been attending regularly since May 2007. I have formed a separate group for these people, in order to deepen our studies.

Elsewhere the range and scope of meetings is evolving 'organically' and I have now organised a general program, for all comers, to take us well into the New Year.

Events are variously priced (see below) and they are open to anyone who can make it to the venue. In most cases advanced booking is not necessary. (although it helps to plan)

Finally, can I invite your constructive feedback to both this mail out and your experience of the workshops (good and bad.) Which is always very helpful and welcome.     Michael Hallam 3rd January 2008

"There’s nothing like getting fresh insight just when you stand in need

of it! 'Fresh' because whilst I know very well the phenomena you describe,

you do it in such a vibrant way that it seems that I have stumbled on a

completely new treasure! So thank you". Linda

"I read your extraordinary article "Organisational and individual development and the state of the planet: Pause at the Crossroads" with great interest. I would like to tell you that it had a profound impact on the course of my spiritual development. Thank you." James

"Never has my attention been held for two hours straight, with 100% immersion in a topic. An enlightening, fantastic experience! Come along and feel those internal cogs turn for yourselves." Brash

Not too long ago I was feeling tired, very tired...Well, I found a cure! I went to listen to Michael Hallam talk with great love and knowledge.....I can truthfully tell you that the following day that a word came to me, 'Nourished." Edwina

The Science of the Spirit – A Look at the World of Angels and How they Work into Our Lives

Although our modern one-sided approach to science dismisses the existence of super-sensible beings (angels) this does not mean that they do not exist, neither can we say, given the current state of the world, that the purely materialist view of who we are and what motivates us is particularly successful. Increasing numbers of people are claiming to have spiritual experiences and the Angels are our first point of contact.

Reflections on the nature of work: From a necessary evil to the source of human inspiration and fulfilment on earth.

One of the most critical challenges facing humanity today is the urgent need to re-forge the way in which we work with nature, in order to receive our ‘daily bread’. In the second half of his life, John Ruskin turned his acute powers of observation to bear upon the 19th century world of industrial England. Specifically to the way in which modern forms of mass manufacture divorce both Nature herself and the human being from any meaningful connection with life. A century and a half later this appears to be more than ever the case, and yet….we are beginning to recognise the urgent necessity for change. Is it possible to re-cast the way we work in such a way that both nature and the human being can both be nourished by the process?

Curiously enough, this question leads us straight back to Ruskin’s acute capacity for observation of natural processes and to the refreshing renewal of our souls, which results from following him on this observational journey.

12 Senses Workshop – Sense of Balance

A revival of this popular workshop.

Rudolf Steiner pointed out that we have 12 distinct senses (and not just the 5 we are used to). To begin, we will do a quick sketch of the full 12 and then look at the 6 natural pairs of ‘opposites’, and how they balance each other. We will then concentrate on the sense of Balance itself.

Body, Soul and Spirit –

exploring the nature of the human soul

The soul stands in between our physical body and our eternal spirit nature.

It holds the balance between two very different worlds. How can we benefit from a greater understanding of its workings? Based upon the work and insights of Rudolf Steiner and others, this introductory evening provides an opportunity to begin a journey, which can help us re-connect to our body and spirit and re-invigorate our life.

What is Time - And how do we travel in it part II

Michael Hallam

Following on from the successful workshop in Preston in November we will explore the nature of time. Did you know that time travels in three directions? Tonight we will lift the lid on time and look at how it is structured. We may even get to change our experience of it and travel more freely within it. Guaranteed to be both mind-boggling and inspiring. Hold onto your seats.
